Functional Movement Retraining

Whether you’re a long distance runner, athlete, avid gym-goer or weekend warrior, your body generally moves in a pattern it is accustomed to. So if any portion of your movement cycle is impaired with faulty biomechanics, it is only a matter of time before your tissues break down from the excessive stress, leading to injury.

What causes faulty movement patterns?

Improver biomechanical movement patterns tend to be caused by:

  • Mobility or joint restrictions
  • Excessive or insufficient tissue length
  • Strength imbalances
  • Faulty neuromuscular coordination patterns

Oftentimes, you may have the proper strength and mobility, but if your body lacks the ability to turn on and off the correct muscles at the right time during your movement, you may still be prone to injury.
